UGANDA
When we heard of a simple, business training through Alternativ that could be taken by literates or nonliterates alike and would help them to successfully start or run their own business, we couldn’t wait to give it a try. Partnering with Impact Nations, we chose an amazing organization in Uganda called The Remnant Generation (TRG) as our first host. Young pregnant women in crisis situations are helped to deliver their babies and move forward in life after traumatic situations.
In total, three Ugandan-based organizations joined the class with over 20 participants. The week flew by as we did skits, played games and obviously learned. Who knew learning could be so fun?! From basic business concepts to marketing, customer service, and savings, we got to see the light bulbs turning on. Friday was a big day as we graduated from the class. For some, it was their first opportunity to complete educational training and receive a certificate.
To this day, this course is being used in Uganda by Era92 and TRG to benefit hundreds of young people as they learn the basics of being successful in business.
