NICARAGUA
We traveled to Nicaragua with Impact Nations to distribute 750 water filters house to house with a team of 50 from Australia, Canada, and the United States. The beauty of going house to house with a community leader to guide us, gives us the opportunity to pray where there are needs. From problems like deafness to plantar fasciitis, people experienced the healing power of Jesus.
One afternoon we got stuck inside during a sudden deluge of rain from a passing tropical storm. The street outside suddenly turned into a river of muddy water. Seeing a great opportunity, we went and filled up a bucket of filthy, storm water and dumped it in the filter. Horrified, everyone said, “You can’t drink that! It will make you sick!” Just as shocked, they watched the water come out the other side of the filter crystal clear. We filled our cups and drank to prove our confidence in the effectiveness of the Sawyer Filter.
It’s filtration ability to take muddy water and make it clear is reminds me of Jesus. His ability to take the mess of our lives and turn it into something clean and beautiful is what gives us hope for each day.
